No, based on our own internal studies beekeepers run the risk of higher mortality with in-hive feeding. Open feeding or barrel feeding is acceptable. Any feeders that block or restrict the entrance should not be used or in-place during the treatment period. For optimal success with MAQS and Formic Pro ensure bees are well nourished before treatment – keeping in mind that both products can be applied when the honey supers are on, during the nectar flow.
Beekeepers should try and time their treatments in the spring after feeding is completed and Midsummer during the last honey flow before feeding is typically required.
